My brother and I used to talk a lot about 4x4's and trucks back in the day. after reuniting with him and reminiscing about those times, I felt utterly inspired to build a vehicle that would live up to those ideals today.
From AWD to RWD, this Jimny has been given a full trophy truck treatment with an independent front and 4-link rear. It’s also EV converted for maximum performance. One Tesla pLAID motor in the front and a RELATIVELY compact custom battery pack enclosure in the back to balance the weight.
This one specifically, the Maruti Gypsy, is based on the Jimny’s longer wheelbase version for the Indian market.
Compact, capable and relatively cheap. I’ve always had a love for simple and practical designs like these.
This project has been mostly my take on the ultimate truck vision as my brother has always gravitated towards big old American body styles while I tend to lean into smaller compact formats. Nonetheless, he has always played a big part on why I today love trucks and this would have never been possible without his input.
